Dog Intelligence.
How smart my dog really is? I always wonder. Yes she knows few tricks recognizes all my friends, knows her way to the park and back home. But does it mean that she is a genius?

So, naturally i looked for a way to measure my dog’s intelligence. The best thing i found was Dog IQ. It is an iPhone application that tests your dog’s intelligence.

They have a number of different tests that are fun, easy and very effective. Each test has 11 questions that cover all 5 kinds of dog’s intelligence.
My favorite part is that each question involved a treat and made it feel like a game for me and my dog. Did i mention that the application has a cute French bulldog as a mode?

Oh and my dog scored high average. Not bad after all...

Sounds like fun ... can you give us some examples of the tests you must do to figure out how smart a dog is?

The questions vary. Some of them are hypothetical like: "How many words has your dog attached some meaning to?". Some are behavioral like :"Does your dog understand what you do differently on work days and weekends, by reacting differently to your behavior?". There's few problem solving questions like: "How long wil lit take for your dog to get a treat from under a small towel." or "Hide a treat in a corner of the room without your dog seeing it." And many more.

If interested, you can check it out on iTunes (Dog IQ)

I found a test online after I read this, and I posted it on my blog. http://iowadogtrust.wordpress.com/ check it out and see if it anything like the one on your phone. BTW, I tested Patches and she scored a 20 on my test.

I want to do this later. Actually did parts of it, but can't wake up the whole house by rearranging furniture right now. My guess is that Baloo will score very high, and Grizz-Bang on the lower end.
