no poison, just shelter to appeal to the species.

please NOTE -
the written directions are Wrong - look at the photo:
the slats are not an H-shape, they are 3 pillars: one
centered, one on each side; all 3 support the low

Oh right now we (i.e. Murrieta) are having major stink bug probably...well at least they might be stink bugs (minus the stink) but they could also be sheild bugs... They look very much like the ones in the picture only black and golden. They seem to like to gather at gas stations though, dunno why?

Around here, we use a "gord like" fruit called a hedge apple. If they are picked fresh or used right after they drop off of the tree, they are very effective is warting off Japanese Beetles and Boxelder bugs. They aslo work to keep spiders and crickets away.

I place them about 8-10 feet apart on the west and south sides of the house in the fall and they work great until they freeze. I also put a few in the basement to keep them OUT.

this shrub or tree is AKA 'Osage Orange' and was used to block the wind from prairie homes,
hedge in livestock with a tough living-fence, and prevent wind-erosion when the prairie sod was broken by the plow.

ieejits of "modern" industrial-Ag have torn out many Osage-hedges, to create L-A-R-G-E-R more "efficient" fields,
for the enormous planters, harvesters, spray-machines and other farming equipment - and erosion in dry years
of the fine-grain, fertile prairie soils has massively increased.
it takes an estimated ONE THOUSAND YEARS to create an inch of fertile soil - tons are lost per acre, every year.

short-term gains, long-term loss - the Fifteen-Foot Deep loess soils of the Idaho rolling hills are now so reduced,
the knobs of rises show as rock today - affraid a loss of more than 10 vertical feet to poor husbandry.
