This could have gone in the training section as it is a "sucess story" of sorts ... Cool cheers

Saturday afternoon the Car Club that Im in, had our annual picnic. This year Neka, Patchs and I hosted it at our house.

While i was sure that my girls would be nice to the guests, I wasnt sure that they would both stay around if allowed to be OFF leash (which they needed to be). Neka is a always pretty safe bet b/c she love the attention of humans, but Patchs still has the urge to run after neighborhood critters at the drop of a hat!!! We've been working really hard the past month, and Saturday was the 1st big test!!!

Anyway, the picnic lasted about 4 1/2 hours and my two girls were perfect ANGELS!!! In fact, they were the talk of the party. There were serveral dog owners in the group. Everyone (even the dog owners) were impressed with their demeaner, obedience and "happy go lucky" personalities. I even got a chance to show everyone thier repertoire of tricks.

But the funny thing is: I think Neka and Patchs had more fun than I did. bounce

Between the two of us, we've gotten better at listening to each other. Off line she is about 80% on her 1st time recall. And after just 30 seconds she will ALWAYS return, which is 1000 times better than 3 months ago. The biggest result Ive seen is in the "STOP" when she starts to "take off" When she is still within 10 feet of me ... I can tell her to stop and she will freeze in her tracks 95 of 100 times.

Thats really great! Prey drive, I've gotta say, is a difficult one to deal with and to see that you have that level of reliability (even though its not 100%) its just outstanding! Keep up the good work, and a pat on the back for both the gals!

I stil let her chase, it's just on my terms. I'll hold her at my side and then release her with the "Get It" command. After a short time under the tree (barking and jumping and running in a circle) I call her back at treat her for coming. It seems to be working very well! bounce
