PostSubject: Tricks and/or Behaviors are you Teaching   Mon Nov 23, 2009 10:39 pm

With the weather in the Midwest now turning cold, I've stepped up my trick training because we cant spend as much time out running in the yard.

Neka is not much for tricks, but she has recently learned to do the "Grizzly Bear Up" in which she rears-up on her back legs and walks forward with her paws up high. So far she has step one of this. We begain today on step two. where she takes a few steps. The goal is to get her to walk about 5-6 steps and growl with her mouth open wide.

Patchs has been working on "Bang, bang ... You're Dead" in which she is sitting, I point my finger at her and say BANG. When I do, she falls over on the floor and plays dead. She is in step 3 of 4 on this. She just got the fall over on the side part tonight. The last step is to have her lay on her back with her legs and head "splayed" out in different directions.

What are you guys working on with your babies?

"Bang - You're Dead" is done and she does it very well most of the time, and good the rest of the time. We are now working on "Say Your Prayers" ...

Say Your Prayers: is a trick were
(step 1) She puts her front paws up on my arm and then

(step 2) puts her head down below my arm and between her paws.

(step 3) She holds that until I do the "Rub-a-dub, dub ... Thanks for the Grub" and

(step 4) when i say AMEN she pops her head up and catches a treat from me!!!

We are in step two right now. I hope to have it done for Christmas Dinner with the family.

Thats a neat trick, I saw it once in a book here at the library, seems like something cool to teach.
