Have you ever thought about starting your dog's on a raw food diet? What are some things that would hold you back and what are some things that you see beneficial about raw food diets for your dog?

Heh same here. I think it might be healthier for our dogs but I know that the food they get already had what they need for their diets...the one thing I don't like about raw feeding guidelines or communities is that they are too biased saying how many toxins commercial food has and all that fear rhetoric

In my personal opinion raw food diet is another "fad". If the dog food you are feeding your dog is working and keeping the coat healthy and good skin condition, good weight then I don't see any reason to change. Why mess with something that isn't a problem to begin with? I've recently learned that if there is not a problem or an issue with something from the start, leave it alone. When you mess with what isn't a problem then you have more and a lot worse problems.

I feed some raw foods, but don't know enough about the nutrition part to go there totally. I might try it someday, as the dogs I've seen that are fed totally raw diets look incredibly healthy. I feel like the better grade dog foods do a good job with their products except for maybe too many calories. My vet and I have this discussion often. The formulas they use are more for intact dogs, when many people alter their dogs.

Do you mean the formulas that brand name dog foods use?
