Has anything ever happened to you pooch that nearly made your heart stop? Meaning an accident or health problem that you most likely had to rush to the vet or maybe it was that your dog ate a handful of chocolate? Share your scariest story here and see if any others have been through what you went through.

Chip was about 5 yo. It was a stormy Friday night in late November. Chip was not eating very well and had an appointment to see the vet the next day.

About 10:30 pm I hearld him "licking his chops" When I turned toward him to see what he was doing I noticed that the hole front of his body and dowm the right front leg was covered in fresh blood. Well, needless to say, I was in TOTAL panic. I spent the next 5 minutes cleaning him up and trying to find out what was going on. Then I grabbed the phone and called the after hours number for the vet.

After arranging to met the vet at his office, I grabbed a big towel in one hand and picked him up and carried him to my car. BTW, we were getting "freezing rain" and I had to run the car for about 15 minutes to melt the ice off the windsheild. Then it was a5 MOH drive the two miles to the vet office.

BTW, it was an inpacted tooth and the gum was infected. He ended up having 3 pulled that next morning. It happened 3 more times and he had a total of 9 pulled in about 4 years.

Is that common in dalmatians? The inpacted teeth issue? Must've been really bad if he was bleeding that much!

The thing that really scares me about Junior is when he occasionally gets out of the house because someone leaves the door open. We live in a subrural area so not that many cars but the freeway does run right next too us, that along with coyotes and snakes scare me when he's out.

NO its not that common ... We think that by eating a little kibble that evening it cut his gum open.

Wow, thats really scary. Idk y, but I imagine that this might happen a little more often in dogs that have short and long muzzle breeds mixed into them... Hmm haven't heard of this kind of problem before, I'll have to do some researching study

I never imagined it either. Chip was a Pure Breed and there were NO dental issues in his blood line back 9 generations. I spoke to the breeded after the first one, she was horrified.

The following is a true story:
My sister was outside when the dog was hers. She was with the baby also and everything was normal. They were outside when suddenly her dog goes to the street. "VVVVVRRRRRRMMMMPFFFFF" My sister ran inside my house in total panic, I was also panicing too. My sister was all like "THEY JUST RAN THE DOG OVER" Suddenly her dog comes in the house panicing too. We checked his leg and he was limping. He smelled like fish because the car went over him. You could see the tire marks on his body. 2 days after that, he is totally fine as if the accident never happened. Months after that the dog became mine.

Please explain: Why did he smell like fish?
